Our history

Science Consultants International (SCI) was founded in 1995 as a vehicle to support research at the University of Basel. Researchers affiliated with the University carried out consultancy work for third parties and the fees directly supported their research.

Following a change of rules by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF), which made it difficult or impossible for non-university institutes to receive research fiunding, SCI extended its model to cover all non-profit research organizations in the Basel region, subsequently including the neighbouring regions of France and Germany.

SCI is merely a portal. Requests for consultancy services are directed to our network. All subsequent negotiation takes place with the actual individual or his/her institution, who will issue invoices for fees and expenses directly to the client.
